Conflict and communication
Repeated arguments, criticism, withdrawal, resentment or difficulty discussing sensitive subjects.
Couples therapy Sydney
A thoughtful, neutral space to understand recurring conflicts, restore dialogue and decide how you want your relationship to move forward.
Couples often come when conversations repeatedly end in conflict, silence or misunderstanding. Others seek support during parenthood, fertility treatment, migration, a loss of trust or a possible separation. You do not need to wait until the relationship is in crisis.
Repeated arguments, criticism, withdrawal, resentment or difficulty discussing sensitive subjects.
Emotional disconnection, changes in sexuality, loneliness within the relationship or loss of trust.
Pressure following the arrival of a child, differences in parenting, infertility or changes in family roles.
Clarifying whether to remain together, preparing a respectful separation or reorganising family relationships.
Both partners are invited to describe the relationship from their point of view. The work is not about deciding who is right. It helps identify the cycle that keeps the couple stuck, make room for each person’s experience and develop more workable ways of speaking and responding.
Sessions can take place entirely in French or English, or move between both languages when partners have different first languages. Particular attention can be given to migration, cultural differences and the pressures experienced by expatriate couples.
Couples sessions normally involve both partners. An individual conversation may occasionally be suggested when clinically useful and agreed within a clear framework.
Some couples attend for a focused period; others continue longer. We review together whether the work remains helpful.
The fee is $180 AUD per couples consultation. Medicare rebates are not currently available.
